Acubase, acupuncture bibliographic database

In 1980, the Nîmes University Medical Library received 48 titles of acupuncture periodicals, and some 50 acupuncture theses and dissertations produced in France, from Professor Jean Bossy. This initial collection was enhanced by a donation of 250 books from AFERA (Association Française pour l'Etude et la Recherche en Acupuncture). The result is a unique acupuncture collection in France.

The problem of cataloguing all these works soon arose. This is why, thanks to the collaboration between Professor Jean Bossy, volunteer members of the ARMFA, acupuncture students and the Bibliothèque universitaire de médecine de Nîmes, the Acubase acupuncture database was created, followed by its Thesaurus.

Today, the collection continues to grow, thanks to new acquisitions of books, e-books, subscriptions to paper and electronic periodicals, their analysis, conference proceedings and the production of student work related to acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine.
